Jung Typology Test

My results via my psychology fiance. :)

Extroverted - 33%
Sensing - 12%
Thinking - 1%
Perceiving - 22%

Apparently those are my strength of preferences percents.

I guess that means I'm a promoter? Who knew? A lot of this matches me... but hmm... I guess she's an INTJ... whatever that means.

Based on my percentages, I lack a lot of conviction. Maybe, I'm a best combination of everything. :)

Euchre Genius?

I have met my equal. Not my match, because we don't play against each other, but truly my equal in euchre. Anthony Wernette, my roommate, and myself have enjoyed so recent success (not usually luck) as we've finally figured out how to play together. I know of nobody else who plays euchre like I do, not even my grandpa at this point, except for Tony. Frustrating at first, this has finally turned into a good partnership.

And then there was game 2, last night, down 8-2, we made our comeback due to some gutsy calls on my part and good cover by Tony to 9-6. Not bad, right? I told Tony I'd done my part and the game was in his hands. He readily accepts this and proceeds to ask as he deals out whether or not he has to let everyone else pass before he calls loner. Granting, of course, that Tony can't stack the deck with the cards facing up, he proceeds to wait until all three of us have passed on a 10 of hearts. Then he picks up the heart and lays it face down with his unreviewed hand, "Alone". I figured, damn, I will lose with that one, but that's ok. No. He picks up his hand - all hearts. Game over. Lucky bastard.

Holmes-Rahe?

Interesting, but I definitely took this stress test and it told me that I faced an extreme life change or nervous breakdown. Fun, right? I feel super stressed sometimes, lie to the extent of dying, but most of the time, I'm pretty chill. Allegedly stress is cumulative and very destructive. Beware, I'm a psychopath about to break down! :) lol.

Ground Driving

Majestic. That would appropriately describe the way the horses looked this morning in subzero temperatures, harnessed and being ground driven around in the gravel. With the tunnels of snow blown into all kinds of shapes and sweeping across the ground, the horses in their harnessed stance seemed like towers in a world of confusion. It felt amazing to see them out there and to be in the wind with them, walking around. I really can't get over how great it felt to walk around with the horses this morning. Something about the terrible weather made it that much better.

Harnessing them really wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Without the experience of the rest of the class from last week, I figured that I would be a little bit behind. Thankfully, the TA was very helpful and patient as I struggled through my first time of harnessing. All of this really doesn't seem as hard as I figured it could be. I guess it's always easy when it's going well, but it felt good. I liked it a lot.

As I said, it's pretty cold out today. Hopefully I don't get a ticket, but I wasn't faced with a variety of choices this afternoon and I don't think it advisable to attempt the bike ride. Tony confirmed this when he returned to the house this afternoon. He simply said, "Drive to class today".

27 January 2010

16 degrees

It's amazingly awesome how the weather prediction online currently states a low of 17 and a high of 27 today in Lansing. AND that it is 16 outside today. Durr......

Long bike ride to class. I'm still very sore from basketball and running on Monday, so I'm calling a day off. Maybe I'll run tomorrow, or maybe I'll just map a run around Lansing and run that. But I need a break today.

I interviewed for a job yesterday on campus. The interviewer was 30 minutes late, and so when in the course of the interview he mentioned that we are scheduled to work until 10, but it might possibly go further, I made the assumption that what he really meant was that it could be any time that we get off. He confirmed this, and that made my mind up. I will not take the job, even though I was hired if I wanted it. But this semester, school is truly more important. I know, that's a first, but I need it for once, and I want to graduate, and I want to do well in biochemistry. I have something to prove to myself.

Amanda is coming up to visit this weekend!

25 January 2010

Photographer, check.

The title pretty much summarizes my accomplishments this weekend. Well, in reality, it summarizes Amanda's accomplishment with my meager assistance. Leaving class so late on Friday left me with barely any time Friday and then little time on Sunday meant that Saturday was pretty much it. But we have the photographer and she seemed very nice. I liked her pictures a lot, and it's nice that she already kinda knows Amanda and Jenn. One more thing off the list.

Congrats to the Spartans for pulling off a miracle come-back win. The paper here praised them for being a clutch team or something like that. Ha, no, it was that they finally found a sense of urgency. Well, I can agree with that, but I'd be much more relaxed as an observer if I got to see their sense of urgency before the last 2 minutes of the game. (and hopefully I will, I get to go see them beat NW this weekend with Dani!).

Also this weekend, Amanda and her family got their H1N1 vaccinations. Hopefully they really work; I'm still a bit skeptical. And we celebrated Jacob's birthday Saturday night.

Movies I saw this weekend: Runaway Bride and Serenity. Now, don't be too shocked, but I had never seen either of these before. And both were filled with their moments of humor. Runaway Bride - very good. Serenity, also very good, but I'd file the complaint that the psycho killer girl could be a little less scary. If she was I'd probably not be gripping the edge of the couch randomly during the movie. She just kinda freaked me out.

So now I'm sitting here in First Aid class, waiting for it to start, and for us to begin to learn how to make out with people during emergency situations. Oops, I mean rescue breathing. From the demonstrations, it's kinda hard to tell what the difference is, really. I'm not a big fan of practicing breathing down someone to save them. Will I in a sudden situation? Of course I would save you, but I just would never want to remember it later. Good news is we also have these little respirator one-way mask things. Hmm.... That sounds like a good idea, but honestly, are you always gonna be carrying that with you? "Hi, my name is Benjamin Wenner. I'm a certified first responder, and today is your lucky day, because I'm the only nerd from class who still carries his rescue breathing mask in his pocket". Not happening...

Wowednesday

Yes, I'm posting this on a Thursday. It is 5.00 pm and I finally don't feel like absolute crap. All I really have to say about that is that I really don't have the body or the time to go out anymore. My body is totally shot and I need to put it into rehab mode for the next couple of years. I really have cut back on my drinking and had a quite brutal reminder last night/this morning that I can't drink much at all anymore - my tolerance is gone. I know, I don't really post much about drinking or whatever, but this night deserved a post, only because it cannot be repeated. As another step in my aging process I'm backing off before I die. Don't ever forget - I was epic, but this is done.

In other news, yay for there being a Republican senator elected from Massachusetts. I don't really care at all about his views, I just can't stand a congress as powerful as it was.

Also, check out this youtube. My own personal shout out to this guy for being quite the entertainer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j7NSZBI2BY&feature=youtube_gdata

Busy Day

And we're sitting here in the club room talking about bananas (apparently an herb) and New Mexican cattle..... blah.

What a day today. I woke up late, apparently I needed the extra hour and a half of sleep. Thank you Amanda for calling. And then I ran around the house, hopped on my bike and made some shortcuts (narrowly missed by an SUV speeding on campus) and made it to biochem on time. From there TAing RumNut and then off to work on homework (and blog). And then I'm buying a first aid kit, going to that waste of time and then off to be trained to work for ADS. Then I have an hour break to bike home, read management, and then go back to campus for dairy club and my PST meeting. After that I'm headed back home to conquer the biochem problem set 1 (since set 2 comes out tomorrow) and then I'm supposed to make a bar appearance tonight at the whiskey barrel. BLAH!!!!

ta ta for now....

Horse Driving, Pacific Time and Fishies

I have fishies on my blog. I've had them, but every time I forget to post about it. Anyhow, check it out. They follow your mouse and beg for food and when you click it feeds them!

And apparently my blog has been posting on Pacific time. I'm glad we got those fixed.

The OSU Saga - Part II

So I figured all of the stuff before now can count as part one, since I never kept track. But from now on, I'll keep track of the steps to get into OSU.

Today I tried to confirm acceptance for the millionth time. I don't think a university could be capable of making a more confusing system. Honestly, MSU isn't that much smaller than OSU and yet their handling of paperwork or lack thereof has been really nice. It looks like I've been spoiled for the past 4 years and I can't wait to get tired of hating OSU's apparently stupid systems. But don't get me wrong, I'm so psyched to be a Buckeye.

Anyhow, so I finally found a way to look up my info via SSN on a OSU website. (yeah, that spells identity theft all over it) Then I figured out something very exciting! I am still wenner.20 at OSU. That was the email address assigned me when I applied the first time to OSU and they still have it. Seeing as how they never deleted my name out of their people finder, I'm not surprised that they decided to keep it when I showed up again in their network.

After that, I had to wait over an hour for my username to be activated with my email, then reactivate through buckeyemail because they just made that switch also, and then I turned around and had to reprompt all of the old login info all over again. But finally - success. I was able to confirm acceptance and seemingly without paying a cent for fees. I can appreciate that; hopefully it's true.

Anyhow, I'm still kinda sick and I'm headed to bed. Phoebe was keeping me up for a while as she ran skatter all over the house chasing imaginary bugs but she's finally slowed down and everyone else seems to be asleep, so it's gonna be a night for now.

Follow-up from yesterdays news

In biochemistry class: Thalidomide is not an amino acid. One of the stereoisomers prevents morning sickness, the other causes birth defects. Oops, that would be a big mistake.

Blogging Master

I could really get used to this whole randomly blogging more often thing. I know, some of the blogs you're like "what is he doing?", but it's cool, I don't expect you to always understand why I write what I do. In fact, the coolest thing about blogs isn't that anyone else reads them but that years from now I can go back and see them again, and it's pretty crazy to go back and re-read.

So Management 325.... well, that would be a fail. Today we got out 30 min early (again) after sitting through about that much time of Office Space. Don't get me wrong, I love the movie and it's a great example of business "what not to dos" but still I think that it is a waste of my time to be required to take this class for graduation.

In other news, apparently some morning sickness pill from the 50's and 60's maimed a bunch of babies, like 2000 of them in the U.K. All I really wondered was why that got on the news today? Something about millions of pounds in settlements still. Yeah, I'd be pissed if I was one of them.

I feel much better today after last night. I don't know if I overworked myself, was too dehydrated or just had some bug, but I felt absolutely awful and to top it all off, I couldn't even see. Bad news! But by the time I got back from draft horses this morning, I felt so much better.

Draft horses. Wow, they are so amazing. I just can't get over the amount of power in one of those. I'm so excited to get to drive them later on this summer. What a great class. It's something that MSU should never cut (but I expect them to in the next 10 years.)

I rode one of my bike repairs to class today (which is why I'm about to leave early to get to Spanish). It's not a bad ride, really, but it lacks more gearing so with only 7 speeds, the hills by the railroad tracks were a little harder than they needed to be. But then again, at least the chain doesn't slip on this one like that Schwinn which I swear is still determined to kill me by surprise someday.

Anyhow, off to class.

13 January 2010

Tony....

You know how Botox is supposed to make your nerves not be able to feel and removes your wrinkles? That just did it to me....

Management and Homework?

Management class. Can I just say how happy I am that my bike ride to and from class was longer than the class itself? No, because I wasn't happy about it. Anyhow, I'm already sore from biking so hopefully my body mans up soon or I'm not going to be a happy critter for the rest of this semester. At least I'll be in good, well more like better, shape when I'm out in May.

Biochemistry has me overachieving already. This is 2 classes in a row in which I will have read the text and done the homework before going to class. Crazy!

Plans for the rest of today. Read "Horse Soldiers" (seems to be a decent read thus far), go to the grocery, print my first aid assignment at the Dairy Farm, habla espanol por dos horas, and then return home for the rest of the evening.

I must have done a decent job at work last semester, because I got more stuff to do this week. :) I have work tomorrow morning for a couple of hours; I'm just glad to know that I was doing a good job last year.

Quote from Transformers 2

"It's despair kid. Sometimes you get to the end of the rainbow and find out the leprechauns booby trapped it all".

LOL.

ANS 401

ANS 401... Can I just say I am inordinately excited for this class? I know nearly the entire class and can actually find this stuff interesting. Besides, who can pass the opportunity to listen to your classmates make themselves sound outdated, like hicks, like morons, or like absolutely lazy seniors. Yay for Spring of 2010. Definitely going to at least have 2 hours of entertainment per week.

On another note, I am now realizing just what a 3 credit hour course in First Aid will look like. Intense. It looks to take a lot more effort than I thought, but I apparently will even be certified to handle bloodbourne pathogens, just in case I ever need to do that.

So here's to my last first day of my undergraduate career, to my only semester as a senior and to the 5 months, 8 days until I am finally officially united with my soulmate. I will have fun here this semester, but my goal is in sight and I cannot wait until commencement. Please stay posted for the official date, but expect the first week in May!!!!

More snow/return of the parentals

So... chores are done for the last time, amid more snow. But Amanda and I are done house-sitting tonight as soon as we pick up the family at the airport. Their flight is ontime from Charlotte so keep your fingers crossed...

In other news, quite the spiffy day on BBC news, you should check it out. I like reading BBC news. They're not afraid of being boring, nor concerned about reporting the inordinary. Today was just one of those days when a lot of stuff happened.

We've been quite the chefs this week, wine sauces with chicken and beef, spaghetti, chili, all the best. I'm going to miss that next week.

Anyhow, I guess we're getting ready to watch Bride Wars, so I'm not sure I'll be posting much longer on here. Sigh, school starts Monday.

Inability to operate....

So they pass all these laws about driving and what you can do and what you can't do, but maybe they ought to just be stricter about who they let onto the roads in the first place? Or... give special colored license plates to those people who are allowed to drive in the snow (which would be cheaper than special colors for those who can't). I don't know, kinda like the "party plates", as Amanda calls them. Anyhow, here's my little video of frustration. I think there was many more ideal video opportunities, but most of the time I was busy driving and avoiding all the idiots like the guy in the Acura who decided to drive 15 mph on the left hand side of the highway.

-Rather than have you hold your breath for me to make my upload work, or wait for my memory storage on this blog to run out, I've posted the link:

Let it snow..... (not)

Apparently my title is not allowed to include italics... lame. But you get the point (yay for ASL sarcasm, btw). I'm tired of snow. We've gotten over a foot in Columbus (the only place around here that cares to keep track) and I'm ready for it to be over. It's sickly disturbing that it's 7* F warmer in Lansing than it is here.

Anyhow, no more dead sheep and all the animals at this point seem healthy and happy, so I'm ready to head out to lunch with Amanda and there is only one more day until the folks are home and we are freed from this house. I know I volunteered for this, but I don't think anyone really knew what that meant at the time.

Goodbye Xanga

October 29th, 2005. Wow, such a long time ago. And that was when I began xanga. Today, January 6th, I am no longer using it officially. I retrieved all 146 pages of text, and lost all comments (most were from Laura saying she loved me, so I decided to delete all, sorry folks). 146 pages, are you kidding me? What was I doing all that time? You wouldn't even believe all the silly 4 liners there were... sigh...

The world from here...

What a week. 2 stillborn lambs, 1 dead pregnant mother ewe and lots of snow. Yep, you guessed it, I'm housesitting and it really struggles to go right. But as always, there's a better view in the horizon.

Props to Amanda (my favorite forever) and also Jeremy for helping me get everything done around here. Apparently Jeremy and I were mildly entertaining yesterday evening when we tried to get the sheep injections done. Hopefully it will prevent any more late-term abortions.

I always wish that I could show people a glimpse of true life within animal agriculture. Sure, it's laced with death and pain, but so is life for people. We care for these animals and I can personally say that there is only so much we can say to convince people that we properly treat our animals. If you know someone who doubts it, have them call me, I'd love to give a farm tour.

So my room is decently more clean. Just in time for me to leave. But my bookshelf is alphabetized by author (thanks Amanda!) and my old clothes are sorted out too. This class schedule looks lenient to say the least and I'm more than a little excited for things like First Aid and Spanish for Dairy Farmers. Get excited!!!! I applied for graduation yesterday and was accepted to The Ohio State University (the Rose bowl champs, yeah yeah) for my masters in Animal Sciences.

I really haven't gotten to visit with very many people since I've come home. I had these huge expectations of getting to see all my friends, checking things off my list for the wedding, deleting my xanga (which requires extracting all the old posts to word) and finishing my philosophy essay). Well, those are the things not off my list. Sure, I've done a lot, just not what I expected.

Jobless for the semester. Yeah, that kinda sucks, but I just haven't been able to find anything. Maybe I'll have better luck once I'm on campus, but hence the picture. I just needed a little more humor for this post.

Hopefully I'll get my essay done tomorrow. It's not required for anything, just something that I really wanted to do. I know, pathetic, right? Well, I'm prolly out for now, gonna go hang out with the Cooper and Jeremy for a while before Amanda gets home from class (and I have to do chores and make dinner before then too.).
